Montra Electric Opens Its Electric Truck Range to Delhi-NCR Fleet Operators Replacing Old Diesel Trucks Under the Government's NCR PARIVARTAN Scheme

~ Following its MoUs with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Montra Electric's e-MHCV and e-SCV businesses are supporting eligible fleet operators with the Rhino 5538 EV 4x2 Tractor Trailer and the EVIATOR as replacements for ageing, polluting commercial vehicles in the National Capital Region ~

New Delhi, 31st October 2026: Montra Electric, India’s full-spectrum electric commercial vehicle brand, is now supporting fleet operators and customers across Delhi-NCR who are replacing old trucks under the Government of India’s Scheme for support to the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) policy for the replacement of old trucks and buses in the National Capital Region. The support follows two Memoranda of Understanding signed with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) in New Delhi on 6 July 2026, one by Montra Electric’s e-MHCV business and one by its e-SCV business.

The NCRPB policy is designed to facilitate the replacement of ageing, polluting commercial vehicles operating in the region. Early adoption of electric commercial vehicles under it aims to improve air quality through zero vehicular emissions and support India’s broader decarbonisation objectives. Under the MoUs, both Montra Electric entities will support eligible fleet operators and customers by offering their electric mobility solutions, helping accelerate the transition towards cleaner freight movement across the region.

The scheme named PARIVARTAN (Programme for Accelerated Renewal and Incentivization of Vehicle Assets for Reducing Transport Air Pollution and Network Emissions) has a total outlay of ₹9,585 crore, which includes ₹5,041 crore from the Central Government, and is open to owners of trucks and buses registered in Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh that comply with BS-IV or earlier emission norms. MoRTH implements the scheme, with funding routed through the NCRPB. Owners who replace an eligible vehicle with an electric one receive a comprehensive package of incentives, including Motor Vehicle Tax concessions, full waiver of registration fees, along with 5% interest subvention on vehicle loans. Owners can register, check eligibility and apply for incentives on the Parivahan PARIVARTAN portal.

For a fleet operator in Delhi-NCR, the practical meaning is that the replacement decision now has an electric answer at both ends of the weight range. Heavy haulage into and out of the region can move to the Rhino 5538 EV 4x2 Tractor Trailer, and intra-city and last-mile distribution can move to the EVIATOR, with Montra Electric supporting route planning, charging placement and uptime for both.

Mr. Navneet Sethi, CEO, eM&HCV, Montra Electric said, "Replacing an ageing diesel truck is a business decision as much as an environmental one and the ask from the fleet operator would be whether an electric truck will really earn its keep on their routes. With the Rhino 5538 EV, a fleet operator in Delhi-NCR gets a 55-tonne heavy-haulage vehicle backed by 95%+ assured uptime, financing of up to 10 years, and our support on route planning and charging placement. We want every operator who makes this move to find that going electric works for their business, not just for the air they operate in."

Heavy haulage: the Rhino 5538 EV 4x2 Tractor Trailer

The Montra Electric Rhino 5538 EV 4x2 Tractor Trailer is a heavy-duty electric tractor trailer available with a 55-tonne (55t) Gross Combination Weight option, purpose-built for demanding long-haul duty in applications such as cement, coal and clinker, steel, mining, infrastructure and port haulage. It is powered by a 282 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery paired with a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) that delivers 280 kW (380 HP) and 2,000 Nm of torque, with 18% continuous gradeability and a 6-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) to handle sustained heavy loads. The vehicle offers a range of 198* km and charges from 20-100% SOC (State of Charge) in 60 minutes, and is supported by 95%+ assured uptime.

Over its operating life, the Rhino 5538 EV delivers a Total Cost of Ownership that is 70% lower than a comparable ICE tractor trailer, based on defined operating assumptions, including daily vehicle utilisation, lifetime kilometres, electricity and diesel prices, energy consumption, maintenance costs, financing, battery life and residual value.

Operators buying the Rhino 5538 EV can also benefit from the PM E-DRIVE scheme, with a demand incentive of up to ₹9.6 lakh per vehicle, which brings the upfront acquisition cost.

Fleet operators replacing heavy trucks can draw on Montra Electric’s tailor-made finance facility, with long-term lease and loan tenures of up to 10 years, operating and finance lease options, and a project funding facility that can include charging infrastructure, arranged with public sector and Leading private banks, NBFCs and public sector energy finance companies. Approximately 2.07 lakh (1.91 lakh trucks and 16,329 buses) owners in Delhi-NCR (comprising Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and UP) stand to benefit from this scheme.

Mr. Saju Nair, CEO, e-SCV, Montra Electric said, "For most fleets in Delhi-NCR, daily operations involve frequent, short-distance trips, and the EVIATOR is purpose-built to meet these requirements. With three battery options, an operator can choose the range that best suits their routes, avoiding unnecessary costs for unused capacity, while real-time telematics provides visibility into each vehicle’s performance. Having rolled out our 1,000th EVIATOR in May this year, we know it earns its place on daily city routes, and we are ready to help more operators make the switchover."

City distribution: the EVIATOR

The EVIATOR is a 3.5-tonne electric small commercial vehicle with a payload capacity of 1.7 tonnes and a 10.3 ft loading deck. Delivering a real-world range of over 200 km at full rated load, the EVIATOR is backed by an extended 7-year warranty on both the battery and the vehicle, reinforcing Montra Electric’s commitment to reliability, performance and long-term ownership confidence. Available in three battery configurations of 32 kWh, 40 kWh and 50 kWh, the EVIATOR enables operators to select the configuration best suited to their duty cycles, from high-frequency urban routes to intercity operations. Powered by a liquid-cooled LFP battery, it supports CCS2 DC fast charging to 80% in approximately 60 minutes, while integrated telematics enable 95%+ fleet uptime through real-time tracking and proactive support. Montra Electric rolled out its 1,000th EVIATOR in May 2026. EVIATOR has cumulatively clocked over 2 crore kilometres, reflecting the trust customers place in the vehicle, with over 1,250 vehicles sold to date.

With a presence across 25+ applications, Montra Electric EVIATOR is the only Vehicle in its segment to offer multiple variants tailored to diverse business and application needs.

The Government’s replacement scheme is expected to play a pivotal role in reducing emissions from ICE commercial vehicles operating in one of India’s most polluted regions, while creating a conducive ecosystem for faster adoption of electric trucks. Across its heavy-duty electric deployments in India, Montra Electric has 600+ vehicles on the road, 30 million+ km covered and 6 million CO₂ saved.
